JANET S. STERN
Ms. Stern is the managing partner of Stern & DeRossi, LLP. Her practice focuses on representing business owners and real estate developers and investors. She has over twenty years in real estate and business transactions, including, but not limited to entity structure, commercial and residential property acquisition, loan document negotition and drafting, complex contract review and commercial leases, and estate planning.
Ms. Stern represents a wide variety of clients in real estate, including, but not limited to private real estate developers and investors, real estate investment partnerships and companies, real estate agents and brokers, builders, contractors, and suppliers. Additionally, Janet Stern served on the Executive Committee of the Real Estate Section of the New York State Bar Association and is a former chair of the Section's Professioanlism Committee.
Ms. Stern also represents a broad range of businesses through out the tri-state area, including, but not limited to owners, operators, and brokers of distribution routes. She works hard to assure that her clients avoid preventable problems in their businesses.
She is a member of the state bars of New York and New Jersey.
Ms. Stern received her law degree in 1987 from Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center and her undergraduate degree in 1983 in sociology from the Univeristy of Albany-S.U.N.Y.
MARIO J. DEROSSI
Mr. DeRossi is a civil litigation attorney practicing in both the federal and state courts of New York. His practice concentrates in the area of Family Law, including, divorce; child custody; and child support; property division; division of retirement benefits; tax consequences of divorce; annulments; paternity; grandparent's rights; domestic violence; and post-judgment proceedings.
Mr. DeRossi has a unique philosophy in handling Family Law matters. He believes that every client deserves individual attention and the best representation possible. Based upon this philosophy, he has developed a successful Family Law practice. He also recognizes the emotional trauma and pain individuals suffer when going through a divorce. As a result, he offers his clients the time and the experience necessary to guide them through one of the most difficult experiences in their life. In every case, Mr. DeRossi, first attempts to bring about a quick, civilized, fair and inexpensive resolution. However, if that cannot be accomplished, he offers aggressive professional representation. Mr. DeRossi has developed a reputation for attending to the individual needs of his clients.
Mr. DeRossi began his career as an officer in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps of the United States Army. While a Judge Advocate, he served as lead counsel in more than fifty courts-martial. Most notable, Mr. DeRossi successfully defended fellow officers charged in the highly publicized detainee abuse cases at Abu Ghraib, Iraq and Bagram, Afganistan. Mr. DeRossi was also deployed to Iraq as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom, where he served as a military magistrate.
Mr. DeRossi is a member of the state bars of New York and Massachusetts.
Mr. DeRossi received his Bachelor of Arts from St. John’s University, graduating magna cum laude. He received his Juris Doctor from St. John’s University School of Law in 2001.

NICOLE R. GIANNAKIS
Nicole R. Giannakis is an associate with Stern & DeRossi, LLP. Ms. Giannakis obtained her Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from Touro College, Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center in May 2014, where she graduated cum laude. While attending Touro she was a research editor for the Touro Law Review and published a Comment, "Faking Equity," regarding New York's Equitable Distribution statute.
Ms. Giannakis has a wide range of practice experience including matrimonial law, family law, personal injury and medical malpractice law, as well as criminal law. She has substantial professional work experience through both her employment during law school and internships such as the Nassau County District Attorney's Office.
Before entering law school, Ms. Giannakis attended Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York, where she graduated with a B.A. in Political Science and obtained a Certificate of Paralegal Studies. Her course work concentrated on pre-law studies. After obtaining her undergraduate degree Ms. Giannakis worked for a distinguished personal injury defense firm in Manhattan.
During Ms. Giannakis' law school tenure she was an actively involved member of the Touro Law Community through her membership and active participation in the Family Law Society, Student Disaster Relief Network and Family Law Clinic. She has dedicated her time to pro bono services through her involvement with the Family Law Clinic at Touro Law Center, helping in custody, visitation and divorce for low income spouses in Nassau and Suffolk Counties and in the Student Disaster Relief Network, providing legal recourse for those affected by natural disasters.
Ms. Giannakis is a long island native and is honored to work locally and give back to her community. She continues to stay involved through her participation in the Nassau County Bar Association and New York State Bar Association.
